It's not new that libraries are providing services other than free reading material.

And it's not even new that plant seeds are among those services.

But since the COVID-19 pandemic inspired greater interest in the outdoors — and since vaccines and treatment have allowed us to resume life as it used to be — there's been extra attention given to these seed libraries.

Civil Eats explored the (no pun intended) growing number of seed giveaways at public libraries across the US.
