OverDrive, Epic, and other electronic library apps were seen as lifelines for many readers, even before the pandemic.

But now, that lifeline is being cut in many places.

The same parents and patrons who disagree with what's on physical library shelves are lobbying — often successfully — to have apps like OverDrive and Epic turned off entirely, reports NBC News.

So it's not just a book or books disappearing; it's the entire collection.

If this is happening in your child or grandchild's school district, then the New York Times has a book recommendation.

Answers in the Pages by David Levithan tells the story of Donovan, a fifth grader whose mother is leading an effort to challenge a book assigned in his class, and adds text from that (fictional) novel.
