The truth has long been believed to be out there, apparently.

A 1698 book predicting that life existed on other planets was discovered at an antique valuation event in Gloucestershire, England, reports the BBC, and it's expected to go for at least £2,000 (about $2,500) when it goes to auction on July 5.

The book is called (wait for it) The Celestial World Discover'd: Or, Conjectures Concerning the Inhabitants, Plants and Productions of the Worlds in the Planets.

And in it, author Christiaan Huygens questions why God would have created other planets "just to be looked" upon from Earth.

You can peek into The Celestial World Discover'd on the BBC's website.
