Congratulations to Harini Logan, who won the first-ever spell-off at the Scripps National Spelling Bee to claim this year's title!

The fourteen-year-old from San Antonio, Texas, correctly spelled twenty-one (of twenty-six) words to edge out twelve-year-old Vikram Raju (who got fifteen of nineteen correctly).

There were just twelve contestants left during last night's final round, down from the 234 who started.

Harini had competed in the bee three previous times; her win this year earns her both a trophy and $50,000.

"This is such a dream, this is my fourth bee and I'm just so overwhelmed," she said after her victory.
