Authors are often encouraged to — and thus try to — find beta readers for their works.

Editor Kris Spisak suggests reversing that advice and trying to become a beta reader.

That's because it can benefit you as a writer as well as helping another author.

By channeling your inner editor, you can become more aware of what to look for in your own writing.

And, yes, kindness begets kindness — the person you provide feedback to might want to return the favor.
