A few years ago, I began writing down the books I read and assigning them a rating.
It wasn’t to evaluate how much I was reading, though — it was so I’d remember which ones I’d read, particularly for those moments when people would ask me what I recommended.
Why can’t I remember so I can tell people? I wondered.
It turns out I’m not abnormal or alone, though.
Journalist Coco Khan had a similar question about her own memory, so she turned to Dr. Sean Kang, a cognitive psychologist who specializes in memory.
Kang explains why we struggle to remember the books we’ve read (among other details) in the Guardian.
