The book trailer for Lapvona by Ottessa Moshfegh is out, and it's ... memorable.

The novel, which comes out June 21, is the story of Marek, the motherless son of a medieval village's shepherd.

His life is far from easy, but it becomes even more difficult — dangerous, even — when his path crosses with that of the malevolent local lord.

The trailer certainly inspires unease and anxiety (which, based on the Guardian's review of Lapvona, is appropriate); you can watch it below or on YouTube.

Moshfegh's debut novel, Eileen, was shortlisted for the National Book Critics Circle Award and the Man Booker Prize, and her two subsequent novels — My Year of Rest and Relaxation and Death in Her Hands — were New York Times bestsellers.
