Happy Bloomsday!

This year's celebration of the James Joyce novel Ulysses — which takes place every year on the only day featured in the novel — includes two new visual performances.

One is already up and available for all to view: Hold to the Now, a short film with scholars and actors including Stephen Fry, is up on YouTube.

Another will require a time machine if you missed it, though.

A play called The United States v Ulysses, recounting the novel's 1933 obscenity trial, was staged today in Dublin, Ireland.

The Guardian reports that writer Colin Murphy used case files, historical material, and a novel called Set at Random to create the play.
