Last week, more plagiarism allegations against novelist John Hughes surfaced.
Hughes had previously acknowledged the appearance of passages from Svetlana Alexievich’s The Unwomanly Face of War in his novel The Dogs.
And when scholars called attention to similarities between it and several classic novels, he issued a fresh statement.
That statement is available in full in the Guardian; the gist of it, though, is that great writers throughout the ages have been influenced by one another.
And that, to Hughes, is not plagiarism.
