Melissa Bank, best known as the author of The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing, has died.

Her publisher confirmed to USA Today that she had passed away at the age of sixty-one.

Bank's bestselling short-story collection left its mark on readers and writers alike, with novelists like Jami Attenberg and Laura Zigman taking to Twitter to mourn her loss.

She also wrote the novel The Wonder Spot.
