The inspiration for Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is almost as well-known as the story itself.
Many of us are a little less familiar with her other works, though.
One of those resembles Frankenstein in that it focuses on revivification, as one might guess from the title: "The Reanimated Englishman."
JSTOR shares the real-life story — well, the real story of a briefly popular hoax — of Roger Dodsworth, which inspired "The Reanimated Englishman."
