If you were hoping to pick up some letters from author Charles Dickens to his childhood sweetheart for a holiday gift, bad news ...

... the ones that were set to go up for auction have been pulled, over doubts of their veracity.

Dr. Leon Litvack, an expert analyst of Dickens’s letters and manuscripts, told the Guardian in no uncertain terms that the letters dated 1855 and 1858 are forgeries.

"It’s the signature that is always the giveaway," he said.
