Kathryn Jezer-Morton's essay on children's literature might first seem like a bit of a downer.

Her children are voracious readers ... but she — and they — were finding the literary offerings to be adequate at best.

The exception was fantasy literature, which then started to feel like variations on the same thing.

What to do? Well, that's where the mood turns.

Jezer-Morton turned to children's librarians.

Not only does she express great gratitude for their expertise, she shares it and reminds us that if we lose librarians, we lose an incredible resource.
