Starting out with a "blaze of enthusiasm" that's eventually lost — this could describe any number of situations (hello, New Year's resolutions!).

Morris is a writer of both fiction and nonfiction, as well as an editor, speaker, and writing coach, so she's familiar with this phenomenon both from an outside and inside perspective.

She and Joanna Penn discuss why some authors struggle to finish their books and how they can push through — if it's warranted — in a conversation on The Creative Penn podcast.
