Uruguayan American writer Carolina De Robertis has won the 2022 John Dos Passos Prize for Literature.

The award, according to the founders, was created to honor the great (but often overlooked) author of The 42nd Parallel, 1919, and The Big Money.

De Robertis, for her part, has written but perhaps not been publicly celebrated enough for the novels The President and the Frog, Cantoras, and The Gods of Tango.

She'll receive an honorarium and will read from her work on Longwood University’s campus in April, as a reward for edging out the authors Gina Apostol, Jaime Manrique, and John Wray.
