The library ebook license bills in various state legislatures have sounded great to patrons.

But they're not universally embraced, clearly.

Publishers Weekly reports that various advocacy groups have banded together to form the Protect the Creative Economy Coalition.

The goal: to fight the library ebook bills popping up more often.

They argue that such bills penalize authors and publishers for using the rights accorded to them in the Copyright Act and also threaten authors' ability to make a living.

Currently the member groups are the American Booksellers Association, Authors Guild, Association of American Publishers, National Music Publishers Association, News Media Alliance, the Independent Book Publishers Association, and the Copyright Alliance.
