  • Margo Jefferson has won the 2023 Rathbones Folio Prize — both the nonfiction and overall categories — for her memoir, Constructing a Nervous System  (The Guardian).

  • Actress Millie Bobby Brown, best known for Stranger Things and Enola Holmes, has written a historical novel inspired by her grandmother's experiences in World War II; Nineteen Steps comes out September 12 (NME).

  • Also coming out this fall: Roman Stories, a new short-story collection by Pulitzer Prize-winning and bestselling author Jhumpa Lahiri; Lahiri wrote the tales in Italian first and then translated them (Alfred A. Knopf's Instagram).

  • Rosalind Wiseman, whose book Queen Bees and Wannabes became the basis for the movie (and musical) Mean Girls, might take legal action against Tina Fey and Paramount over the lack of net profits they've paid her (Entertainment Weekly).

  • We're learning now that some of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple mysteries have been edited, specifically in "passages containing descriptions, insults, or references to ethnicity," in new editions — but some of them have been out since 2020 (The Independent).
