Two of our news sources had posts in praise of some female authors who are't pulling any punches.

The Passive Voice excerpted an article (behind a paywall) from The Economist, which highlighted the Japanese writers Murata Sayaka, Kawakami Mieko, and Oyamada Hiroko.

The "bold" work of these authors, says the OP, has found a warm welcome among Western readers.

Another author whose work has caught on in translation: Nobel Prize winner Annie Ernaux.

Ernaux, says fellow writer Rachel Cusk in The New York Times, had an uneasy acceptance in her native country of France, which scrambled to embrace her after her high-profile honor was announced last fall.

And, Cusk asserts, it's hard to imagine anyone who has been more honest and revealing in their literature than Ernaux.
