We've had to make some temporary changes to our free-ebook newsletter for the next few days.
We use Mailchimp to send the newsletter to hundreds of thousands of readers every day. Years ago we hired programmers to create newsletters with genre and delivery preferences.
That template has lots of blank spaces with dummy text that we can move around as needed. For example, if the template has room for four romance books and we sell a fifth, we can drag a block of text up into the romance field.
Well, Mailchimp has apparently made some change that broke the drop and drag function. It won't let us delete the blocks, either.
Mailchimp tech support hasn't been able to fix the problem, so we're having to make some temporary changes while we hire programmers to create a new template that hopefully restores this functionality.
There's two main changes you'll see in the newsletter starting today:
-
Some genres might have two separate sections sometimes. The August 3 newsletter will have two sections with romance novels, and two sections with paranormal romance, for example. While we can't delete or move blocks, we can repurpose them.
-
For the dummy blocks that don't have books, you'll see this:
The good news is your genre preferences will still work — we tested that function last night. And the links will function as normal. Just click the button to the left of the book cover and then get the ebook from Amazon, Nook, etc.
I apologize for this inconvenience. We hope to hire a programmer today and have a new template installed in 7-10 days, but we will do everything possible to find a solution sooner if possible.
Thank you for your understanding, and happy reading!
