Congratulations to these literary works — and their creators — that have found themselves in the spotlight recently!

  • The Edgar Awards, honoring the best mystery fiction and nonfiction, released its finalists; winners will be announced May 1 (Mystery Writers of America).

  • Finalists for the Philip K. Dick Award, which goes to a distinguished work of science fiction originally published in paperback in the US, have been chosen, too; the winner will be announced April 18 (Locus).

  • The National Book Critics Circle has announced the finalists for publishing year 2024; we'll learn the winners on March 20 (Book Riot).

  • Mick Herron, author of the Slough House series, has received the Crime Writers’ Association's Diamond Dagger award for lifetime contribution to crime writing (The Guardian). 

  • Seven of the ten films nominated for the best picture at the Oscars are adaptations, many of those book adaptations (Book Riot).

  • Kelly Jensen looks back at the young adult novels that were hits — in terms of sales and/or accolades — ten, twenty, and thirty-plus years ago (Book Riot).
