The publishing experts we follow have plenty of business and marketing advice and news to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Publishing in creative ways: Heather Webb interviews author Kris Waldherr, a regular user of Kickstarter, about the ins and outs of launching a book there (Writer Unboxed).

  • Small awards, big impact: Hannah Jacobson gives a primer on selecting which niche literary prizes are worth your effort to apply to and how victories there can be played to your advantage (Alliance of Independent Authors).

  • Those flattering emails are an AI scam: Anne R. Allen wants to make sure no authors miss the memo about the praise flooding their inboxes, so she identifies the red flags common within them and asks writers to share the warning with their blog-averse colleagues (Anne R. Allen's Blog... with Ruth Harris).

  • Writing, self-publishing, and marketing books for children: Joanna Penn interviews Darcy Pattison, who has written over seventy books for kids of varying ages, about the business side of this market segment (The Creative Penn).
