Today we're interviewing author S.A. Kazlo, who writes cozy mysteries.
Kazlo is a retired teacher, living in upstate New York with her husband and an adorable dachshund. She writes the Samantha Davies cozy mystery series.
SADYE: How did you come to see yourself as a writer, and what inspired you to seek publication?
S.A.: I’ve always loved reading cozy mysteries and thought I’d like to give writing one a try.
After completing my first, Kibbles And Death, I was confident in it enough to seek publication and thankfully, my publisher liked it, too.
SADYE: Tell us something about your writing process that’s unusual or that you haven’t revealed before.
S.A.: I’m a panster. As the inspiration comes, I jot it down.
But, along with inspiration, I have to have a chunk of dark chocolate as I begin writing.
SADYE: Which of your characters would you most like to trade places with?
S.A.: If I could trade places with one of my characters. I think it would be my protagonist, Samantha Davies.
She is married to the love of her life, Hank Johnson, and has the good fortune to also have the love of her adorable dachshund, Porkchop.
SADYE: Which of your characters would you most and least like to become romantically involved with?
S.A.: Samantha’s husband. Hank Johnson, or, as her cousin has nicknamed him, Hunky Hank, would be my choice as a fave.
My least favorite would be Joe Peters, a self-righteous person, full of himself and always trying to pin a murder on Samantha.
SADYE: What has been the most touching or memorable piece of reader feedback you’ve received?
S.A.: When one of my readers wrote and told me that because of my series she has started writing a cozy mystery series of her own.
