Today's news of literary awards and honors is a mix of the formal and informal.

  • The seven inaugural winners of the Unpublished Novel Award — which grants each writer $10,000 to support their book — have been announced (Literary Hub).

  • The Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse prizes for comic fiction have been announced, with the late Marina Lewycka being chosen as the winner-of-winners and Rosanna Pike receiving the regular prize for A Little Trickerie (The Guardian).

  • The editors at The New York Times Book Review announced their ten best books of 2025.

  • The Guardian is also releasing its best-of-2025 lists; so far we have history/politics, graphic novels, crime/thrillers, children's books, and translated fiction.

  • Goodreads has released the most-read books of its 2025 reading challenge, both in an overall format and broken down by genre (Book Riot).
