Author Christopher Greyson has a message for his fellow writers: know your true worth when it comes to the Anthropic class action settlement, and consider further action.
He's inviting authors who are eligible for the Bartz v Anthropic copyright violation settlement to opt out and join a multi-plaintiff case that seeks stronger action against the AI company.
Greyson reminds authors that copyright law allows for up to $150,000 per book stolen, versus the $3,000 allocated in the Bartz settlement.
"Personally, I, as an author, want to take a stand against the audacity and sheer hubris of Anthropic stealing our books," he writes in a post on his website.
The deadline to opt out of the settlement is January 29; Greyson's post includes information on how to check on your eligibility.
