The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • How to improve your attempts to write fiction for change: Author Nina Amir offers nonfiction tools that novelists can incorporate into their stories — or in addition to their stories — if they want to inspire a curiosity about change in readers (Live Write Thrive).

  • Five ways to hide your villain: If you want your readers to be shocked — but convinced — that a character who was seemingly on the right side of things actually isn't, then check out Jill Boehme's techniques to effect this major plot twist (Writers Helping Writers).

  • Pace and tempo: Dave King uses a Johann Sebastian Bach composition to teach writers lessons about tempo and pace in their craft (Writer Unboxed).
