Today we're interviewing author Kris Kassidy.

Specializing in steamy romance and light erotica, Kassady crafts stories that are both satisfying and thrilling, with full-length novels, steamy novellas, and erotic shorts to choose from.

SADYE: How did you come to see yourself as a writer, and what inspired you to seek publication?

KRIS: My head has always been full of stories. A big part of my life is in an imaginary world.

As a teacher, I enjoyed writing story problems. One day on a whim, I sat down to write a story and was amazed at what happened. The story flowed directly from my imagination to the paper.

I had no idea where it came from or how it happened. It was like unlocking a part of me that I didn’t know existed.

SADYE: Tell us something about your writing process that’s unusual or that you haven’t revealed before.

KRIS: John Grisham says you don’t write the first sentence until you know the last sentence of your story. When I write my first sentence, I have no clue about what the story is even about, much less how it will end.

I sit in a comfortable chair with my laptop and let the story tell itself. Stephen King describes the process in his book. You just let the story tell itself, and that works for me.

SADYE: Which of your characters would you most and least like to trade places with?

KRIS: Desdemona fell in love with Rico, a Columbian drug runner. They were delivering drugs to Texas when Rico died in a shootout with the feds.

She was arrested and spent two years in a women’s prison. The day she got out of prison, she flew to Greece and hung out on a nude beach, then returned to Bogota to start Desdemona Fabrics.

I love her full-throated embrace of life but wouldn’t like her dark years.

SADYE: What has been the most touching or memorable piece of reader feedback you’ve received?

KRIS: One of my students told me that I changed her life. One reader told me his glasses kept steaming up when he read my stories.

SADYE: What message or theme would you like readers to take away from your work?

KRIS: Life is about relationships. Each is different, but each is to be cherished.
