Here's the news on book bans, challenges, and other obstacles to literature and reading that we came across Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

  • Check out the American Library Association's Office of Intellectual Freedom's new blog series debunking the false claims against libraries and library workers (ALA). 

  • The PLA 2026 Conference has issued a statement about the federal violence in Minneapolis, where the event will be held, to try to help potential attendees stay safe (Public Library Association).

  • Judges have dismissed three lawsuits alleging sexual assault against author Neil Gaiman, based on jurisdiction; attorneys for the plaintiff, the defendant, and the defendant's ex-wife declined to comment (The Guardian).

  • The use of — and debate over the use of — artificial intelligence in literature is in full swing in the romance genre (The New York Times).
