The publishing experts we follow have plenty of craft advice to offer.

Here are the ones that we thought were can't-miss for our authors:

  • Finish first: Alison Hammer shares how, for years, she focused on the more complex writing advice, only to find that the simplest tip — just keep writing — was what she truly needed (Writer Unboxed).

  • Seven reasons writers need human interaction: Kathryn Craft reminds her fellow writers that while working in isolation with tech tools might seem like the most efficient route, interpersonal connections are more valuable to their writing and, of course, their psyche (Writer Unboxed).

  • How fear shrinks your character's world over time: Angela Ackerman helps you develop a pattern for your character that they can eventually fight, both deepening your reader's understanding of the character and creating an opportunity for your plot to move forward (Writers Helping Writers).

  • Developing magic systems: Author Whitney Hill offers ways to build a supernatural world that will make sense to a reader and also give you the creative freedom you need throughout several novels (Writer's Digest).
