Literary awards and honors: April 20, 2026

Today's news of literary awards and honors includes a book recommendation for, truly, all ages.

• The Cleveland Foundation has announced the winners of its Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, which celebrate literature that "contributes to our understanding of race and our appreciation of the rich diversity of human cultures" (Literary Hub).

• The Los Angeles Times also revealed the winners of its annual book prize; thirteen different titles took home awards (Book Riot).

• Mahreen Sohail’s Small Scale Sinners has won the 2026 PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction, out of a field of nearly 400 books (PEN/Faulkner Foundation).
