Children's author Roald Dahl died on this day in 1990. Dahl was best known for "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and "James and the Giant Peach." Dahl was fighter pilot in World War II and saw extensive action in Africa and Europe.  He got his start in writing after novelist C.S. Forrester helped Dahl get a piece published in the Saturday Evening Post.
