British novelist E.M. Forster was born on this day in 1879. He only published five novels during his lifetime but they include the classics "Where Angels Fear to Tread," "A Room with a View," "Howards End," and "A Passage to India." All four were adapted for film between 1984 and 1992, leading to an increased interest in the work of Forster, who died in 1970 at the age of 91.
