Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead is returning to the silver screen, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Director Zack Snyder — known for his work on Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Justice League — is making the 1943 novel his next project.
The Fountainhead has been adapted before, in 1949.
Rand wrote the screenplay for that version, in which Gary Cooper played modernist architect Howard Roark and Patricia Neal portrayed his lover, Dominique Francon.
Rand described The Fountainhead’s theme as being “individualism versus collectivism, not in politics, but in man’s soul; the psychological motivations and the basic premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist.”
