HBO to develop series from 'Cat Person' author

HBO is adapting an upcoming short story collection from the author of “Cat Person.”

Kristen Roupenian’s “Cat Person,” about an awkward romantic relationship that sours, appeared in The New Yorker last year and went viral.

Not long after, she signed a book deal with Simon & Schuster imprint Scout Press.

You Know You Want This explores the dark, complex and funny connections between gender, sex, and power across genres.

The book is scheduled to be published in early 2019, while there was no ETA immediately available for the TV series.

“Cat Person” is not expected to be part of the HBO show.

Back in March, Roupenian also sold a horror script, Bodies Bodies Bodies, to A24, where it’s being developed as a feature film.
