Happy Fourth of July! We hope you’re having a safe and pleasant day, whether you’re celebrating or at work, keeping the basics of this world running.

No matter what, this radio clip should be a bright spot: NPR interviewed Lisa Lucas, executive director of the National Book Foundation, on the nonprofit’s partnership with the Department of Housing and Urban Development on a literacy program.

Lucas began with the goal of getting a million books to public-housing residents, and the National Book Foundation has received well over a half-million so far.
