Shobha Rao’s debut novel, Girls Burn Brighter, was Amazon Book Review’s pick for best book of March and one of the best of 2018 so far.

It’s the story of two young girls in rural modern-day India who meet while working in a weaving hut. An attack on one of the pair causes her to flee, and the novel follows their attempts to reunite.

Rao did an interview with Amazon Book Review a few months ago that tackles tough issues like the treatment of women worldwide and where, to someone who immigrated to the U.S. during her youth, exactly home is.
