Read like a famous author

Famous authors are always being asked which books are their favorites or inspired them.

Seeing all of these lists inspired writer Emily Temple to build the list to rule them all.

She looked at almost seventy lists by famous authors, from classics to contemporaries, and reported on the overlap. Her take on the end product?

The results were interesting — not particularly because of the most recommended books (many of them are pretty predictable) but because of the details — the groupings, the exclusions, the agreements between authors you wouldn’t necessarily think had similar taste.
