More and more often, novels are featuring unlikeable female characters.

Joining this club is Gael Foess, of Orchid and the Wasp, though she wears an extra-special mantle: that of an unlikeable character without a traumatic past to justify her behavior and who still succeeds.

Author Caoilinn Hughes discussed her protagonist and the novel as a whole with Lulu Garcia-Navarro on Weekend Edition recently.
