Activist's new book: No need to give up hope

It’s easy — far too easy — for many of us to see the world as doomed.

Author and activist DeRay McKesson, despite all he’s seen and experienced, urges us to take the opposite approach.

He believes there’s reason for optimism, starting with the sheer number of people who aren’t giving up.

He believes this so strongly that he wrote an entire book about it: On the Other Side of Freedom: The Case for Hope.

McKesson talked about his book and what inspires him on All Things Considered recently.
