When we say Roald Dahl’s Matilda has grown up, we’re not talking about the actress from the movie.

We mean that the original illustrator of that beloved book has reimagined the heroine as an adult in a series of eight sketches.

According to The Guardian, three of Quentin Blake’s sketches will appear on the covers of thirtieth-anniversary editions of Matilda next month.

She’ll appear as an astrophysicist, a world traveler, and chief executive of the British Library on them.

Read more about the Matilda revival and how it reflects modern culture and literature — oh, and check out Blake's sketches! — in The Guardian.
