A professor in India has found a way to make legal case studies a little more interesting: use examples from the Harry Potter series.

A reader of The Passive Voice sent in the tip about the elective course, called An Interface between Fantasy Fiction Literature and Law: Special Focus on Rowling's Potterverse, that will be offered this December at the National University of Juridical Sciences in Kolkata.

(To be fair, the course is neither the first to draw upon Harry Potter, nor is it the first legal course inspired by J.K. Rowling’s bestsellers.)

Assistant Professor Shouvik Kumar Guha jokingly told News18 that he probably knows the series better than company law.

But seriously, he also points out that given the many societal, legal, and political changes in India recently, law students must learn to adapt and respond to current events.
