You’re welcome to interpret this news in one of two ways: a sign of the fall of civilization, or as a pragmatic reaction to modern society.

The news in question? Nonprofit publisher Pratham Books has launched a series of books illustrated with GIFs.

Gappu Can’t Dance, Shoecat Thoocat, and The Big Book of Boochandis came out yesterday, to coincide with Children’s Day, and can be read in English, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, and Kannada.

Learn more in Scroll’s post about the series or check out each book directly by clicking on its title in the above paragraph.
