Experience Black Friday from a safe distance by checking out Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah’s new short-story collection.

Friday Black draws its inspiration from the author’s years of working in retail — including on the most aggressive and frightening shopping day of the year.

Its dystopian stories take a pointed look at racial/class divisions and consumer culture; Adjei-Brenyah talks about those themes in his interview with Morning Edition’s Noel King.
