Mundal, in western Norway, has a human population of 280 but a book population of more than 150,000.
Yep, you read that right.
Travel + Leisure’s article about this slice of heaven on Earth adds a small caveat that its open-air markets are only open in May and June, of course, but just about anywhere there’s space, you can find books to purchase.
If Norway seems too far or too cold, there’s always Hay-on-Wye in Wales — where there are more people (1,400 of them) but thousands of books on its outdoor “honesty shelves.”
