Authors invited or allowed to expand on someone else’s beloved fiction must ride quite the emotional roller-coaster.
Ben Schott found that journey exhilarating, fortunately. He told Weekend Edition’s Lulu Garcia Navarro that Jeeves and Bertie Wooster are such well-rounded characters that he felt true freedom in writing Jeeves and the King of Clubs.
In fact, the experience was so much fun that he even finished the book early.
Listen to him describe the process below, or read a transcript of the interview on NPR’s website.
