Today marks the 175th anniversary of the publication of A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
In honor of the occasion, the New York Times takes a look back at its historical coverage of the book, which predates the paper itself.
(A Christmas Carol came out in 1843, while the Times launched in 1851.)
