Many of us plan to attend parties or pop open an adult beverage tonight.

So in that spirit (ha!), we’re sharing stories about famous authors who were known for doing just that.

The Guardian has a piece discussing Victor Hugo's party-animal antics (among other factoids), in honor of Les Misérables coming to the BBC.

And Writer’s Digest dug into its archives to find out which American novelist was truly the one known for drinking while writing. (Hint: It's not the one you think!)
