A bestselling fantasy author has accused her soon-to-be-ex-husband of poisoning her.

Sherrilyn Kenyon had sought medical tests to figure out why she was experiencing vomiting, hair loss, broken teeth, trouble breathing, and facial swelling, according to the Tennessean.

When the results came back, her doctor urged her to hire an attorney — because “there's no way this could have happened naturally or environmentally,” Kenyon told the newspaper on Monday.

The author has since filed a lawsuit against her husband (from whom she was already seeking divorce) and two other people, asking for up to $20 million in retribution for the alleged poisoning and financial mismanagement.

Kenyon — known for such series as Dark-Hunters, Chronicles of Nick, and Lords of Avalon — published her first book in 1993, when she was still in college, and has since seen more than eighty of her books land on the New York Times bestseller list.

Read more about the case and Kenyon’s comments in the Tennessean.
