We certainly hope you don’t empathize too closely with podcaster and writer Nora McInerny’s life, but realize many of you might.

Fate walloped McInerny a few years back, when her husband (just thirty-four) and father (just sixty-four) died in the same year that she suffered a miscarriage.

That left McInerny and her young son, Ralph, to deal with an enormous pile of grief together.

She held up, though, and has written another memoir, this one about her “second life,” so to speak, with a new husband and additional children.

McInerny discussed some of the themes from No Happy Endings on Weekend Edition; you can listen to her conversation with Scott Simon below or read a transcript on NPR’s website.
