Comics fans who miss “Cathy” are in luck: Its creator hasn’t quit writing altogether.

Cathy Guisewite recently published a collection of essays called Fifty Things that Aren't My Fault.

The book is connected to the now-retired comic strip in a few ways.

It’s born of some of the thoughts Guisewite had in her post-“Cathy” job, which was caring for aging parents and a teenager, and it also explores in greater detail some of the thoughts she once put in the strip.

Guisewite describes how this process felt and reflects on her forty years of comic-writing in an interview with NPR’s Lynn Neary.
