We’ve all, at some point, felt just stuck. Author Sarah Blake is no exception.

And during that point in her life, she eventually came to write about someone else who was massively caught up in events beyond her control: Noah’s wife.

That novel, Naamah, shares a name with its protagonist (nameless in the Bible) and delves into what the heck would go on in one’s head during a year-plus spent on an ark.

Blake previews some of the questions and pressures she imagines (and of course writes about) Naamah enduring in an interview with NPR.

You can listen to her conversation on Weekend Edition below or read an edited transcript on NPR’s website.
